Rita Meyerhoff has been a sewer and crafter since she was a young girl, particularly in the areas of cross-stitch and embroidery. In 1993, she tried quilting by making her first sampler block quilt. That experience led Rita to shift her crafting emphasis solely to quilting-related activities.

Rita has received training through courses offered from Arvada and Golden, Colorado quilting businesses and the Houston International Quilt Festival. In addition, she continues to develop experience through the mentorship of peers in the local industry and through “learning by doing”. Rita particularly enjoys crazy quilting techniques — anything from a full-size quilt to creating unique crazy quilt products such as pincushions, chatelaines, and wall hangings. Click Crazy Quilts to see some of her creations.

Rita began free motion quilting in 2006 and bought her first long arm quilting machine in 2008. She fell in love with the whole process of free motion quilting. As a result, she also began quilting for others. She has won numerous awards for her quilts and her clients are also winning awards for the quilts that she has quilted for them. Please visit the quilting gallery to see examples of her work.

In 2007, Rita Meyerhoff began teaching quilting classes and conducting quilting demonstrations. Rita loves teaching and encouraging others to improve their skills. She is currently teaching quilting classes at Hen House Quilts and Gifts in Idaho Springs, CO.  She is also a regular volunteer and docent at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum in Golden, CO.  Also in 2007, Rita began showing her quilts in regional quilt shows:
